Programme Overview
Our WACE programme spans two to three years, depending on the student's entry point, and is structured to progressively build academic competence.
The programme typically spans three years, beginning with a preparatory year followed by two years of the senior secondary WACE curriculum. Each stage has clear academic objectives, learning outcomes, and progression criteria.
Pre-WACE Preparation
Academic Focus
Building the academic foundations required for success in the WACE programme. This preparatory stage ensures students have the English proficiency, study skills, and subject knowledge needed to thrive in Years 11 and 12.
Learning Outcomes
- Develop English language proficiency to academic standards
- Build foundational knowledge in core subject areas
- Establish effective study habits and time management skills
- Gain familiarity with the Australian education system and assessment methods
- Develop critical thinking and analytical skills
Student Progression
Students who successfully complete Pre-WACE Preparation with satisfactory academic results and English proficiency progress to WACE Year 11.
WACE Year 11
Academic Focus
The first year of the senior secondary WACE programme. Students select their WACE subjects and begin working towards their qualification.
Learning Outcomes
- Complete Unit 1 and Unit 2 of selected WACE courses
- Develop subject-specific knowledge and skills at senior secondary level
- Build a strong foundation for Year 12 external examinations
- Begin university pathway planning with academic counsellors
- Participate in internal assessments and examinations
Student Progression
Students who achieve satisfactory results in their Year 11 courses progress to WACE Year 12 to complete their qualification.
WACE Year 12
Academic Focus
The culminating year of the WACE programme. Students complete their final units, sit external examinations, and receive their ATAR for university admission.
Learning Outcomes
- Complete Unit 3 and Unit 4 of selected WACE courses
- Sit WACE external examinations set by SCSA
- Receive Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)
- Submit university applications to Australian and international institutions
- Achieve the Western Australian Certificate of Education
Student Progression
Graduates receive their WACE and ATAR, enabling them to apply for university admission in Australia and internationally.
